NAD+ IV therapy: an honest look at what the evidence says
By Dr. Jason Borrego, DNP, PMHNP-BC, CRNA
NAD+ drips are everywhere in Miami — from mobile party-recovery vans to $1,000 longevity clinics. Here’s the honest version you rarely get from either.
What NAD+ is
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide is a coenzyme in every living cell, central to how mitochondria turn food into energy and to DNA-repair processes. NAD+ levels decline with age — that part is well established. The open question is what supplementing it intravenously does for a healthy adult.
What the evidence supports — and what it doesn’t
The strongest human signals are in energy metabolism and some markers of cellular aging; many patients also report subjective mental clarity and recovery benefits. What no one can honestly promise: reversal of aging, cure of fatigue, or treatment of any disease. NAD+ therapy is a wellness intervention with plausible mechanisms and early evidence — not a medical treatment. Any clinic presenting it otherwise is overselling.
Why setting and screening still matter
Infusion rate matters (too fast is genuinely unpleasant — flushing, chest tightness, nausea), and so does medical screening beforehand. That’s why ours are clinician-directed and run in-suite by an anesthesia-trained provider, dosed and paced to you — 250mg and 500mg protocols, from $349, with member pricing. If a deal on a drip comes without a screening conversation, the discount is the warning.
